In October 2023 I accepted the Inktober challenge - to produce a series of black and white spot illustrations based on the official Inktober 2023 prompts.

Inktober was established by Jake Parker back in 2009. It's a month long challenge run annually, encouraging artists to respond to a series of daily single word prompts. Aside from reinforcing the positive habit of drawing everyday, I find Inktober is a great way to expand the repertoire of my portfolio, exploring more experimental concepts and subjects. It also probably provides a little insight into my personality, inspiration and thought processes.

Here I've presented some of my personal highlights. Categories I covered this year include diagrams, instructional drawings, botanical illustration, board game artwork, illustrated quotes from literature, movie characters, politics, economics and of course... cocktail serves.
I previously participated in Inktober in 2017 and aside from seeing how my drawing has developed technically, it was really interesting to see what a diverse body of work I compiled this year. The best way to follow my progress next year is on Instagram (@mr.chadwick), which is also a great place to check out how other artists have interpreted the same prompts.

The classic Inktober guidelines are:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want)
2) Post it*
3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2023
4) Repeat

*Post it on any social media account you want or just post it on your refrigerator. The point is to share your art with someone. :)
